Description
Another one of the quirky statues that greets travelers and locals in the Old Town district of Bratislava, Slovakia. A legend, Schone Naci, was a well known figure in the early 20th century. A poor and mentally ill man, he walked the streets of Bratislava in his old, but elegant clothes - velvet coat, scarf and he greeted passers- by in his top hat and always bowed courteously to ladies passing by. These statues were installed after the Communist regime because the new government wanted to shed the grayness of the Communist era. The buildings were repainted with uplifting colors and these quirky statues were placed throughout the Old Town area.
