The John Greenleaf Whittier Memorial Bridge named after the acclaimed 19th century poet and abolitionist from Haverhill, Massachusetts is the newly renovated and newly constructed bridge. The original was built in 1954 to span the Merrimack River and to connect the towns of Amesbury and Newburyport in Massachusetts. This new construction still followed the unique arch design by Charles Milton Spofford but added the tied arch technique. The newly constructed bridge also includes the first shared use path along the northbound side of the Massachusetts interstate for both bicyclists and pedestrians to access nearby trails, attractions, and parking facilities. I added a texture to the original image in post processing.

Through the days of film cameras, Instamatics, slides, and Polaroids, I have been the 'go to' person who has been responsible for documenting our family functions. Photography has always been a hobby, but retirement has afforded me the time and opportunity to develop my lifetime hobby into a passion.
